India plans SEAD Exercise in Red Flag 16

India plans SEAD Exercise in Red Flag 16

Indian Air force plans to send it's deep penetration attack aircraft Jaguar along with Su 30 MKI Air superiority fighter to participate US Red Flag Exercise in Alaska USA. The Indian Air force to learn many things from USA to perform SEAD/DEAD missions along with combat air patrol and Air superiority missions. Such exercise is very minimal since most exercise focus only one vs one or group fighting.

To perform SEAD Missions, The Fighter jet need to penetrate the enemy air space by flying very low or below the radar coverage. after it will launch the anti radiation missile over the enemy Radar and air defense missile site. The Jaguar has similar capabilities and specially designed to perform such missions. IAF earlier used the Jaguar as bomb truck, mostly used to drop Bombs. The IAF not ready to retire the Jaguar aircraft, with many upgrades IAF plans to keep the Jaguar till 2035 or till the AMCA comes.

The IAF also dispatches two C 17 globe master transporter aircraft. who carries more than hundreds of IAF's elite special operation commando's known as Garuds to perform the same SEAD mission. The C 17 will drop the Special forces deep behind enemy lines. where they would carry out sabotage missions in enemy radar sites.

There were only two options to perform SEAD mission, One is via Jaguar aircraft other is using special forces to sabotage the radar site. Most of the nations used such kind of aircraft's to destroy enemy air defense batteries in first wave. Israel is the only other who send elite special forces along with heavy lift helicopters to perform SEAD missions deep behind enemy lines.

In modern warfare, Forces not only face the Early warning Radar's, They eventually face more powerful electronic warfare systems like Jammers, communication and Radar interceptors and high power radio frequencies who disrupt missile and it's guidance. They were very powerful and highly mobile platforms.

IAF wanted to penetrate highly defended Chinese Airspace, the upcoming Russian S 400 delivery to China threatens each and airborne platforms flying over Indian Capital in case of war against China. IAF tries many options to perform SEAD Missions which include Kamikaze drones, PTA Vehicles and Stealth drones, If all of the previous options failed IAF may send it's troops deep behind enemy lines to execute the SEAD mission.

Once the SEAD mission is accomplished IAF need to patrol the Air space from enemy Intruders. IAF Plans to use the Su 30 MKI armed with maximum number of BVR and WVR missiles for combat air patrol. The Patrol supported by two IL 78 aerial tankers. IAF will send four Su 30 MKI to the Red Flag exercise, where they can perform CAP missions. Usually a Su 30 MKI can fly more than two hours without the need of aerial Tanker. with Tankers Su 30 MKI can fly more than eight hours.

The Exercise clearly validates IAF's new operational capability of capturing enemy air space and keep the air space under IAF control. Such missions are top priority to conduct safe ground operations for friendlies.

Indian Air force slowly expanding it's wings from primary air defense into Close air support missions, Offensive air missions and Capturing enemy air space's. Future ground operations must need such capabilities.

Patriot Air defense missile
USA giving better opportunities to Indian Air force to exercise with Red forces and Blue forces. US may deploy Patriot or HAWK missile batteries along with AN TPS 75 Mobile radar and F 15 and F 16 fighters as Red forces or enemy forces. Where IAF will dispatch Jaguar aircraft's or C 17 with Garuds for SEAD missions and Su 30 MKI for Combat air patrol missions.

The Exercise already get authorization from government, which will be scheduled to be happen Summer 2016.

China concern about growing India USA Relation

China concern about growing India USA Relation

As the new government sworn in Delhi last year, they took the Chinese threat very seriously, and planning to counter each and every action taken by the Chinese, not only in Eastern Borders, India plans to counter China in Indian Ocean and South China sea too, The NDA government also mulls it's partnership with US very closer, the major aspect is the military cooperation, building strong relationship with US makes China forced to quit some counter moves in Border area's, as recently India allowed some US military group to search Arunachal area to find the lost B 24 in WW2, The same request was denied by the UPA government many times, due to the Chinese pressure.

After 26/11, The US government openly supported India to take military actions against Pakistani Militants in PoK, which brings the US government approach to New Delhi much softer, the US relation may focus the Pakistani agenda first, however later it was turned into Chinese medium, as in 2013 when Chinese camped inside India, which shows China slowly backing it's old tactics to grab Indian Land, also openly said India Should accept Arunachal as dispute territory and Tibet is integral part of China, the UPA government almost accepted that deal with Chinese warmongering tones,

Once the NDA government takes the Capital, they move into different strategy, making closer ties with USA to counter China, also the US think tanks who reports the US Congress also shows favor to Indian moves against China, by inking many military contracts and joint exercises,

The US president once said that, It's would be good to see Indian interest to counter Chinese growing threat in Indian Ocean and South China sea, and US will support Indian moves against growing Chinese influence, also He said India too looking US as a good partner to counter  Chinese aggressive maneuvers in East Asia, India also agreed to sign a joint statement with USA chiding Beijing for provoking conflict with neighbors over control of the South China Sea. He suggested reviving a loose security network involving the United States, India, Japan and Australia.

At first, the growing interest in Naval Exercise, India and US together working to expand the annual Malabar exercise into new level by participating large number of warships from Both countries, and extending the Period, also allowing Japan as a Permanent member of this Joint exercise, the exercise takes place in Bay of Bengal, which draws major attention from China, China openly shows it's concern of US warships in Bay of Bengal, and this Malabar edition involves much number of warships from US and Japan, with Nuclear attack submarines and Air Craft carriers.

Another event is, Recently India allows a US military team to search lost WW 2 B 24 bomber in Arunachal, earlier the same request was denied by the UPA government after China pressured India to not allow US Military personnel's close to the border, China claims the territory of Arunachal Pradesh for itself and several of the crash sites are close to the border, however the new government rejected the Chinese plea and allows the US team to explore the crash site.

The Joint Military exercise Yudh Abhyas, is held every year in US or India, to validate the mutual interest in war fighting capability, the exercise which started in 2004 under US Army Pacific partnership program. This exercise will strengthen and broaden interoperability and cooperation between both the Armies and complement a number of other exchanges between the two forces.this year's Yudh Abhyas was conducted in Washington involving Indian Kumon regiment and US Army's first corps.

The Indian and US team set up a Joint maritime Naval ship design bureau, which can help Indian Navy to build it's first Super carrier with the help from US Navy, the design aspects comes from US navy's latest Ford class super carrier, and India also plan to build the carrier with electro magnetic launching system which can launch heavier fighter Jets from the carrier deck.

Vajra Prahar is another special operation exercise conducted by US and Indian Special forces, the first series of exercise commenced early 2012 in Himalaya's, however later years the exercise called off, and recently the US Ambassador Richard verma says that, Our bilateral Special Forces exercise VAJRA PRAHAR will resume again in January 2016 for the first time since 2012.  This is the tempo of a defense relationship between two forces determined to forge a new level of cooperation, and breaking down historical barriers to do so.

Ambassador Verma also mentions Indian interest to join the Red Flag exercise again, as Earlier said IAF will send it's fighter jets to participate the next edition of famous Red flag exercise,

IAF to take part in Ex Indra Dhanush in UK,Red Flag in US

IAF to take part in Ex Indra Dhanush in UK,Red Flag in US

The Indian Airforce planning to boost it's capability by performing combat exercises with foreign forces, Indian Air force already have good friends in west where Western and Indian Fighters teaming and study about the possible future threats and know how to thwart such moves.

It's earlier the Indian Airforce engaged with the American Fighters in India during 2004 for a combat exercise named Cope Thunder, which shows the Indian Fighter Pilots ability by proving score much higher than the American Fighters.

As per news sources the Indian Air force Planned two series of Exercise one in UK this year another one US in coming year. The Indian and British pilots already engaged in a combat exercise during early 2010, the Indira Dhanush. which was planned between India and Britain, earlier in 2004, 06, and 2010 Indian pilots roared the British skies with British counterparts. after 2010 without any prior notice India didn't involved any air combat exercise with  Britain.

But it's been confirmed that India will be there in UK for Ex India Dhanush scheduled on July, India Plans to field Su 30 MKI front line fighters with additional support of  IL 78 Mid air refulers, It's suspected that India also fields it's MiG 29 UPG and Phalcon AWACS also.

Another good news is India once again to take part the world Famous Red Flag exercise, This is the second time India going to part of the exercise, earlier in 2008 India deployed the Su 30 MKI against the American aggressive Squadron flying with F 15, Normally the reports are secret who is winner what is the score like questions, But some leaked information pitched positive views both side,

Earlier last week IAF Chief visited Neveda Airbase and briefed about the Red Flag exercise and It's importance by US airforce Marshals.

Within seven years India changed so much, It's the time to show the Indian Air force strength once again in UK and US,

It's needed to exercise with foreign countries Fighter jets to study lot much about foreign fighting tactics, and threat handling methods, since those exercise can be done only with Friendly Nations. India always get some, earlier this year IAF successfully complete the Garuda Exercise with French.
