What's happening in the Rafale Deal

What's happening in the Rafale Deal

Various media sources in India are quoting different details about the Rafale deal finalization, At first India Today stated " All the issues were sorted, and the Rafale deal will be signed on Jan 26 ". The Economic times also quoted the same by pointing the Reuters Report. Days ago another media Business line quoted the Rafale Deal still in papers, citing the same old Offset issue, and last day Times of India also quoted the same what Business line said,

The Economic times posted another story of cost issue, citing the National security advisor Doval is in Paris, who discuss about global war against terrorism, and the recent air force base attack, Who also accompanied by some key Rafale negotiation team to fine tune the deal, ET Reported as per their sources, The deal value cross over $9 billions or so for the 36 fly away Rafale.

The Reuters posted a news in Monday quoting Defense minister, who said the deal expected to be signed in on or before the Republic day parade. Hence it looks like the words are not clear, Defense minister never said the deal all set for signature, unlike what livefist and India today quoted.

India Today in Dec 26 Reported that " India and France will sign the Rafale deal in Jan 25, also says the all the fighters will be delivered within next seven years. However they didn't mentions about the person who said above details to India Toady. Later in Jan 10, Livefist quoted almost the same what India Today said, saying the deal will be signed on Jan 25.

Live fist also said another DAC meet scheduled on January 18, will give go ahead call for the Rafale deal, to sign the contract. However Livefist failed to mention the key body of the contract, The Cabinet committee and Finance ministry, Live fist also said the French defense minister will comes to India before the President's arrival to recheck the contracts.

Times of India said, The DAC meets on Sunday discussed about the Rafale deal, who also says still there is some issues to clear the Rafale deal, who citing the offset clause as major issue in the deal. The ToI mentions defense ministry sources, Who says "It's highly unlikely the Rafale deal will be Signed on Jan 26". They also said the deal won't be signed on the eve of Republic day.

ToI also published the issues are almost solved in virtually, and the commercial negotiation takes another two to three weeks, next the Cabinet Committee approval, followed by Finance ministry approval. So these procedures could take another one or more months. ToI quoting unnamed defense ministry sources saying France will invest only 30% of the deal value in India. India negotiated upto 50%.
On the other side Economic times on Jan 13, reported a whooping value of $9 billions for 36 Rafales, ET said the figures comes from authoritative sources. They are the one who mentioned the Doval's France visit also covers the Rafale talks too.  Even ET couldn't confirm the deal value may include weapon packages or not.

Days ago here in this blog, I quoted from various open sources across from French and India, The actual deal value of 36  Rafale F 3 fly away units sets for close to some €5 billion which include spares, support systems, Base modification and Missile systems. The actual price per Rafale is negotiated at some €70 millions, for 36 units it crosses some  €2.7 billions. so half of the amount could be spend for base modifications, weapons, and spare parts. From the beginning the french sources said The deal value is remain same for F 3 units quoted in 2012. when Rafale announced as  L 1 as MMRCA.

So far half of Indian media saying the deal in doldrums, half of them saying the deal is all clear to sign in Jan 26. There is no idea whom to be believed

Rafale deal Countdown T-8 Days

Rafale deal Countdown T-8 Days

Days ago, England based Reuters published a Article, citing some french sources said, India and France ink the Rafale fighter jet deal in ten days, as from years months and soon dates, it's now the new deadline is set as next 10 days, as already two days over. The Rafale deal is not as much as difficult, However IAF insists the Ministry to buy large number of Fighters include local productions, IAF plans to use the Rafale as a test platform too, with the easy modifications in Rafale IAF can test new missiles and Bombs using the Rafale from various altitude, to modify the Rafale IAF needs the Intellectual property rights, thus can be done only by the Transfer of Technology or the Make in India kind of Contract,

The same sources could not revealed what kind of deal it is, as PM modi announced in Paris, that India buy only 36 Rafale as fly away mode or a Government to government deal, The IAF out of words, Since the Indian Nuclear command named Strategic forces Command also insists the IAF to transfers one squadron of Rafale to use Nuclear attack missions, so far it's believed the SFC have One Jaguar and Su 30 MKI squadron for Nuke delivery, while they plans to replace the Jaguars with Rafale Fighters, without IP rights  SFC could not use the Nuclear Bomb/Missiles in Rafale, also IAF wants the Astra should be used in the Rafale, since it's was in development and integration stages on Tejas and Su 30 MKI,

Rafale comes with two BVR Missiles one is long range MICA EM and other is  Ultra long Range Meteor BVR AAM, how ever if India buys the Rafale in G-G mode, India can use only those missiles, and already certified French made Air to Ground Missiles, However India almost has handful of many kind of Munition projects, from small Guided PGM's to long range Cruise missiles, to integrate those missiles in newer platform India should need the IP rights,

If India signs the 36 only Rafale Deal, India needs to invest very large amount in the Rafale deal only for Munitions, The Rafale is pure multi role, so need of Multiple Air to Air missiles and Ground missiles is much needed, although if IAF forced to give those half a numbers to SFC, then the IAF gets  very less Rafale's only,

Although France almost setups a huge infrastructures in India to manufacture the Rafale, the recent Snecma Joint venture with Indian Maz Aerospace is an small Example, So it's expected the deal could be more numbers, as many defense analysts and former Air force officials saying the same the 36 numbers could be increased because of the Air forces Requirement of more than 90 Aircraft's in same category, as recently Indian Government backed Saab Gripen offers the same to IAF, Americans comes with Scorpion and F 16 IN offers, However IAF neglects all such deals and Sticks with the Rafale only for all the above mentioned Aspects,

IAF not only need some 90+ Rafale Jets, they need more than 200 Light Combat Aircraft, to replace those old MiG Series, as some News reports emerges India could scrap the LCA, However IAF always favor to the LCA, only large number of LCA along with Rafale only pose a series deterrence against the large Chinese  Air force.

36 Fly away Rafales for India

36 Fly away Rafales for India

The Prime Minister of India asked the French President to deliver 36 Rafale Aircraft's as soon as Possible, that means The PM wants those 36 Rafales quickly.

The deal wasn't signed yet, but the Joint Announcement made the 36 Numbers, that's why there is no information about Price, Model, Delivery and Weapon Pacakages.

The French President Hollande said Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian would travel to India soon to finalise the deal.

Also Dassault Cheif Eric Trappier also feels good about the Deal of Supplying Rafales to 60 years of long time customer India.

Some Indian Defence Officials said this contract is different from MMRCA, and the MMRCA still negotiations,

Some sources said the MMRCA grow from 126 to 144 , while the 18 Fly away condition Rafale doubled by 36.

The Rafael Model Expected as F 3 Version, also comes with Bunch of Weapons Package, along with Powerful RBE 2 AESA Radar
the Deal not yet signed, but the rush of urgency, IAF would recive atleast two Rafales before the End of the Year.

Also some French Sources said, Dassault could deliver the current Indian, Egypt French Orders before 2019.

There were plenty of very important Nuclear, Energy, Counter Terrorism Agreements also Signed.

Update the Rafale Deal

Update the Rafale Deal

Rafale assigned as a Ground attack mode can switch to Air Interception mode with Four AAM

Recently the  Media's reported The Rafale deal is died we go for Su 30 and LCA, some says the deal over priced, some say they will give the F 2 standard with AESA only more and more. But Today in Aero India the livefist blogger Mr.Shiv Arror got a chance to interview the Cheif of Air Staff Mr. Anup Raha and asked about the process of Rafale deal and information's in the media.

The Cheif clearly explains about peoples claiming Su 30 may be the best alternative for MMRCA even those Russian media's too enjoyed to quote the Indian media praising the Sukhoi's. they think the Sukhoi defeated the French Rafale in the Indian MMRCA Deal. But Cheif says to the Livefist
"There's M-MRCA and there's Sukhoi-30. The requirements are slightly different. And they have their own capabilities. They compliment each other but do not replace each other,"
Most peoples can't even don't know about the capability of Su 30 and Rafale, they even not accept when someone tries to explain it. Now The cheif himself says clearly about the role of Su 30 and the role of Rafale.
another some says we have plan B if Rafale deal fails we may go for the Typhoon. they should first read the RFP and the Typhoon. you need to sign multiple Country's who are all involved in the EFT development. any misunderstand with those nation can ground your EFT. also they didn't allow their Aircraft to house the Russian Missile's. these are all problems are solved in the Rafale Deal. even those Rafale's are proven in Ground attack like Missions from Afghan to CAR. their Air mission are well in Baltic Air Policing Missions. lets see what the cheif said to Livefist about that Plan B guys

"No, we don’t have a Plan-B as of now. We are only working on Plan-A."
Even more the Rafale also making deals and JV all over the Country. recently the SENECMA knows as the M88 engine maker to power Rafale  it's just  signed a MOU to an Indian Firm. also  the Ministry is stocking the Money to bring the Rafale those Navy and Army get most orders recently where IAF don't get any new Deals.

also the Price escalation peoples said the Rafale costs in $12 in 2012 and $ 20 now but Dassault said to the Economic Times, This is what Eric Trappier CEO of Dassault Air

"The pricing issue is very clear. Our pricing remains the same from day one of LI (Lowest bidder). So there has been no change on that front,"

"The pricing issue is very clear. Our pricing remains the same from day one of LI (Lowest bidder). So there has been no change on that front,"

So the deal expected to be signed within the Next Financial Year

Rafale with ASMP A with Long range Nuclear Attack Mission
Rafale with 12 guided Missiles with Three Drop Tanks. shows it omni Role Config
"The pricing issue is very clear. Our pricing remains the same from day one of LI (Lowest bidder). So there has been no change on that front,"

The Rafale Deal

The Rafale Deal

Why There is a Sudden truce about Rafale Deal all over the Internet . Did peoples aware of reading the News article by-self or Just Saw the Headline and Make Decision . This not a New when Press Reports something fishy about Rafale .So sure I'm not advocating for Some Foreign Product neith getting money From Dassault to write something in favour Of Rafal. I Just writing this because why our IAF team selects the Rafale and Moving papers in favor of Rafale.

I have some Points straight to Everyone

The Recent Report about IAF may go for more Sukhoi's if Rafale Deals Fails .Actually everyone thinks the Report come straight from the Defence Minister or the CNC (Contract Negotiation Committee ) but the Truth is It comes from an Ex Army Officer who turned into a Journalist Col Ajai Shukla . Actually he first write this article for His Blog and Business Standard Online News site . when it's Appeared on the Internet everyone Copy's it and Post it in their website quoting MOD going to order more Sukhoi's and withdraw the Rafale deal .

Also IAF knows which one is Better for them .Not You or me or an Journalist .

For Peoples who Supporting Su 30 , 35 against Rafale

Actually once Air warfare started in the 19's everyone wanted to get control enemy Air Space  that called Air Superiority. same goes til now and Future too .but the Advanced Anti Air Missiles launching from ground makes serious Attrition damages to enemy Aircraft. So in this case both Su 30 35 are all Air Superiority Fighters .Their Main role is taking control of Enemy Air Space Defeating Enemy Fighters and Patrolling targeted Area with long Time . they are best to dealt with Air related Threats. we have Enough Number of Air Superiority Fighters in our Hangers currently we have more than some 200+ Su 30 MKI's which is a Most Advanced Flankers ever Developed. currently we have more orders may be It reach by some 400+ Su 30 MKI orders later it can get MLU ( Middle Life Upgrade ) Known as Super Sukhoi ..More powered Engine , More weapon integration .New AESA Radar which makes Better than the Su 35 Flanker . When China Gets delivery of Su 35 Super Flanker we will also get Super Sukhoi's from our Plants.actually  Those Air Dominance fighters are not well capable to deal with ground based strikes and Close Air Support for Friendly forces. so we need a Better Platform to do that work That's where Rafale suits better.

For those Shouting about EF Typhoon  G3

The EFT is a JV of many European Nation .That's also a Good Strike Fighter .But Problem lies on the Contracts you need to Contract  Countries who all involved to create the EFT . also EFT's sortie rate is low compared to the Rafale . moreover French Agreed to integrate Russian Missiles into the Rafale .Can the EFT countries allows it . If we have Problem with any European country who involved in the Project then our EFT fleet sitting in ducks due to Spare Parts.  and More other Problems

Why Rafale

The Rafale is an Omni Role means can do any mission in a Single Run a Air Indirection, Bombing a Specified Target or Kill a Maritime Strike the Rafale can do all this in one mission. But other you need to launch different Fighters to do that .even EFT can't do this why not the F 22 too . Rafale shown some awesome Performance in the Mali and CHAD countries . about their Close Air Support .an awesome Info there .Once a Kurd Forces ask the Colliation forces to take out some Targets in front of them those Kurd Fighters pinned by ISIS Terrorists .Nearby Dutch F 18 Called in But it can do the Bombing if it Bombed The Friendlies too suffer Both Receive Damage. Suddenly the French Scrambled their Rafale's .what happens Rafale just did a Strafing Run ( Using Aircraft Cannon ) It's so hard for any fighters to do a Gun fire on the Ground for CAS ( Close Air Support ) but the Rafale did it without any Injuries of Friendly Forces .

And More Important Rafale is the Only Fighter capable of Launching Nuclear Missions .Till Now in IAF the SEPECAT Jagaurs are only IAF Certified Nuclear mission capable Fighter .If we get Rafale we sure another one Joins in our Nuclear Fleet

So tell me if you have more doubts about Rafale Feel free to ask here
